How to get to Aït Ben Haddou?
Where is Aït Ben Haddou located?
Aït Ben Haddou is located in the Ounila Valley, approximately:
- 30 km from Ouarzazate.
- 180 km from Marrakech.
- 30 km from Telouet.
- 230 km from Zagora
The village is accessible year-round via a paved road and is one of the most visited destinations in southern Morocco.
Getting to Aït Ben Haddou by car, motorbike or bicycle
From Ouarzazate, follow National Road N9 towards Marrakech.
After approximately 22 kilometres, at the village of Tabourahte, turn right onto Provincial Road P1506, signposted for Aït Ben Haddou.
After a further 7 kilometres, you will reach the village and the parking areas located near the ksar.
The road is in good condition and presents no particular difficulties. It is regularly used by cars, motorcyclists and cyclists alike.
From Marrakech, the journey follows National Road N9 towards Ouarzazate via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass before joining the scenic P1506 route to Telouet, home to its famous kasbah, and continuing on to Aït Ben Haddou.
It is also possible to remain on National Road N9 as far as Tabourahte and then turn left, following the signs to Aït Ben Haddou.
Getting to Aït Ben Haddou by shared taxi
Shared taxis are the most economical way to reach Aït Ben Haddou from Ouarzazate.
The journey is usually made in two stages.
Ouarzazate → Tabourahte
From the Ouarzazate bus station, take a shared taxi to the village of Tabourahte.

- Typical fare: around 10 MAD per person
- Departure once all six seats are occupied
It is possible to pay for additional seats if you prefer not to wait for the vehicle to fill up.
Tabourahte → Aït Ben Haddou
From Tabourahte, take a second shared taxi to Aït Ben Haddou.

The journey is short and drops passengers close to the entrance of the ksar.

Where to park in Aït Ben Haddou?
Several parking areas are available within easy walking distance of the ksar.
The main parking areas are located:
- near Hotel La Kasbah
- close to the mosque
- opposite Hotel La Rose des Sables
During busy periods, it is also possible to park along certain sections of the road.
Parking attendants are usually present to help drivers and keep an eye on vehicles. A small tip of a few dirhams is generally appreciated before leaving.
How do you reach the ksar from the car parks?
Once you have parked, the ksar can be reached within a few minutes on foot.
There are two main access routes.
The pedestrian bridge
Crossing the riverbed, the pedestrian bridge is the most direct and most frequently used way to enter the ksar. It also offers one of the finest views of the fortified village and its earthen silhouette.
The garden path
A second route follows the gardens below the ksar. Less frequented and more discreet, it provides a gradual approach to the village and a different perspective on its surroundings.
Both access routes are public and free of charge.
